About Marmoris

Marmoris was founded to expand deep-sea research and increase local ownership of ocean exploration in the Caribbean. Based in The Bahamas, we carry out innovative ocean science using a range of cutting-edge technologies to access and study the region’s most remote marine environments. Our work is guided by our vision of a Caribbean region equipped with the expertise and tools to fully explore, preserve and protect their marine ecosystems.

We collaborate with Caribbean scientists, governments, and organizations to support data collection from the deep ocean, strengthen research capacity, and contribute to national and regional ocean policy. As a team rooted in the Caribbean and backed by international expertise, Marmoris is uniquely positioned to drive innovative, high-impact, and regionally grounded ocean exploration.

Founder

Denley Delaney

Marmoris was founded in 2025 by Denley Delaney, who developed a deep connection to the ocean while growing up in The Bahamas. Before launching the organization, Denley led the National Geographic Society’s portfolio of technologies for innovative ocean exploration as a Senior Manager within the Exploration Technology Lab. Through her work supporting deep-sea expeditions around the world, she recognized the significant data gaps across the Caribbean, and the need for greater locally-led science and increased access to deep-sea technologies within small island developing states. Denley now brings her experience launching ocean technology programs and managing deep sea expeditions around the world back to her home country and the broader Caribbean region. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Marine Science and a Master’s in Environmental Communication from Stanford University.

Our Technologies

Marmoris’ growing suite of commercially sourced ocean exploration tools enable comprehensive surveys up to 3,000m depth and collection of high-quality video data as well as sensor data for essential ocean variables like temperature, dissolved oxygen and pressure.
