The Bahamas

Marmoris’ inaugural project focuses on exploring The Bahamas’ deep-sea habitats, beginning in the north and expanding across the entire archipelago. The study documents species presence, characterizes seafloor habitats, and collects unique visual data to inform local ocean management and connect the Bahamian community with their deep sea. By building a comprehensive deep-sea dataset for The Bahamas, Marmoris is filling critical knowledge gaps, strengthening regional capacity for ocean exploration, and laying the groundwork for long-term monitoring.
